The 7th Annual "Fireworks for Freedom" at the Happy Homestead will be held Aug 16 &17 2008. The Happy Homestead is an off the beaten path area of outdoor reclamation near Elysburg PA that offers open spaces amongst a beautiful forest secluded from all notions of the asphalt world in which we live. "Fireworks for Freedom" is a weekend of camping and fun in celebration of our personal freedoms in a place were we can pursue those freedoms to their fullest. This year's schedule of activities includes great musical shows by New York Funk Exchange, Dr. Ketchup, The Black Souls Band, TDJ, Ross Brown Project, and Codename. along with a fireworks display that will be matched nowhere else. The organizers of the Happy Homestead along with the performing bands volunteer their time and hard work in effort to save a beautiful piece of nature for all to enjoy. We have entered into this venture NOT to make a profit but to have fun and do a service for Mother Earth, thus, the price of admission is very low and moneys are used for costs and recycled into the Happy Homestead for further improvements. So, come on out and support some great original musicians, Mother Earth and to have a great weekend of camping and fellowship in the woods.

Happy Homestead tickets are available via mail order and will also be available at the gates

DR KETCHUP

This band has been at it, up to it and all about it for a good long while. It's all groove all the time. It's instrumental now, so don't look for a singer to tell you what. Don't start sayin' jazz either. We leave that up to the college kids. And please... Smooth what?! Acid who?! Spare us, we're far too excitable and unkempt to make that much money. Now if you mention funky music, then we can have a conversation. If you say all-the-way-live-booty-shakin-boogaloo-house-party where the host just might make rent - then it must be Friday night and it must be Dr. Ketchup on the bandstand. Technically speaking, one of our favorite things to do with music is to take jazz standards (or any style music for that matter) and drive them with a fiercely aligned funk feel.

Ross Brown Project

http://www.myspace.com/rossbrownproject

Guitarist Ross Brown crafts his own brand of original instrumental aggressive groove fusion. It is a unique blend or rock, funk, and jazz with emphasis on groove and improvisation. Most of Ross' pieces are written to feature the improvisation of the players.

The band explores many realms of music: ambient avant-garde to jazzy groove to funk to latin to agressive progressive rock fusion. The original repetoire is instrumental and high-energy. The band performs with varying configurations but always constists of stellar musicians who bring groove and improvisational flare.

Codename

http://www.codenamemusic.com/

Codename's songs are a fusion of tightly composed, high-energy progressive-rock arrangements, complimented by jazzy harmonies and funked out dance grooves. Their show is a true experience. The soulful connection is apparent between Adam Nash (keys/piano), Jon Joffe (guitar), Greg Halbkram (bass), and Sal Galati (drums/percussion), as their chemistry both on and off the stage combines unique energy, vision, and sense of adventure that all goes into the jazz-infused blast of funk rock that is Codename. Among their influences are The Grateful Dead and Phish, Herbie Hancock, John Scofield and Medeski Martin & Wood, Pink Floyd, Yes, Soulive and The Allman Brothers.

The Black Souls Band

"Tasteful licks , dynamic grooves, and soulful melodies are the trademarks of the Black Souls music. Their songs feature insightful lyrics and music that both captures and inspires a spectrum of emotions, from the deepest sorrows of lifes pains to the crystalized peaks of mind expanding joy.
Guitarist/vocalist Michael McCormack, Lead Vocalist Casey Yarnall, Lead Guitar player Will Maher, Bassist and vocalist Tim Johnson and Drummer Erik Scattareggia create a chemistry and sound so unique and versatile that to place them in any one genre of music would serve as an injustice to their phenomenal collaborations."
