How to Butcher a chicken – Part 1 (Killing, scalding, plucking)

One of the hardest aspects of farming/homesteading is butchering your animals. Its also one of the best parts. You have to take a life, which is not enjoyable, but that life provides you with nourishment. Healthy, fresh, nutrient dense meat to feed your family, and/or sell for monetary income. It’s a blessing, and we don’t take it for granted. We have a small chicken farm and our summers are full of butchering, processing, and packaging.

If you have never butchered a chicken before it can be confusing. We have created a series of videos walking you through the entire process, so you leave the guesswork behind. Here is the first video in our little series.
