Natural face cleansing Methods

My skincare regimen is a bit different than most people’s……

My goal is to keep as many toxins out of our house as possible, and that means commercial products are out. I have found so many natural alternatives and they work even better than the chemical filled lotions and cosmetics at the store! Below are a some of my favorite face washing methods.

Bentonite clay  has the ability to bind to toxins, heavy meatballs, and impurities, and pull them from the body. Don’t allow anything metal to touch it or it will interfere with the electrical components that make it work.

Raw honey is an antiseptic that gently washes away dirt and balances oil. It’s excellent for acne prone skin. Spread a thin layer over face and gently rub in small circles for about a minute. Rise off with warm water. You can leave it on for about ten minutes for even better results if you have time. I often will add cinnamon to my honey wash, for all it’s impressive qualities.

“Like dissolves like.” Oil dissolves oil. Its true, as crazy as that sounds. Using oil you can cleanse your pores of dirt and bacteria gently and naturally, while  protecting and nourishing your skin. When done the right way with the right oils, oil washing can clear your skin from issues like oily or dry skin, blackheads, whiteheads and acne, leaving your skin healthy, with balanced moisture. Many people use coconut oil with great results, but my favorite is a tallow balm that I make from the tallow I render from our steer, elk or deer. I rub a tiny bit of the oil in circles on my face, dry or wet, either one is fine, for about 30 seconds to a minute. I wet a washcloth with as hot of water as I can stand and hold the cloth over my face until it cools. I repeat this step once more. This is kind of like a mini steam bath for your face and it allows the oils to penetrate into your pores and remove all the dirt, makeup, and excess oil. I then wipe my face gently to remove all the oil. there should still be a very thin layer of the cleansing oil on your face, but if there is not and your face feels too dry simply apply a small amount of natural moisturizer, such as coconut oil, or the tallow balm. I love to use tallow.  The oil cleansing method truly leaves your skin looking and feeling amazing!

I generally use the clay as a mask once a week for detoxing and deep pore cleaning. I just mix equal parts clay and apple cider vinegar and smooth on my face. I allow it to dry, then carefully wipe off with a wet, hot washcloth.

I often follow up with a vitamin C mask. For that I mix equal amounts of honey and coconut oil or tallow together with 1/2 teaspoon of vitamin c powder. You only need a tiny amount. Just apply a thin layer. Leave on for about ten minutes. To wash off just run a washcloth under water as hot as you can stand it without burning yourself. Hold the cloth to your face for a few seconds before gently wiping. Repeat once or twice. Talk about a glow!

I moisturize with my tallow balm.

Well, that’s my face cleansing method. I have noticed a definite improvement in my skin since implementing this combination.

** Update: I still love and use these methods, but most of the time I just wash my face with my tallow balm. It works amazingly well.
